GFB T9481 VTA Blow-Off Valve, Vent-to-Atmosphere – VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda 1.8 & 2.0 TSI/TFSI with Pierburg Factory Diverter Valve

What it is

A vent-to-atmosphere blow-off valve that bolts where the factory diverter valve sits on the earlier EA888 turbo engines. It uses GFB's DV+ internals (brass piston, Viton seal) so it holds boost the plastic factory valve cannot, and vents to atmosphere for the audible release. The solenoid is built into the valve, which keeps it low enough to clear the engine cover and lets the ECU keep controlling it.

Fits

Only engines with the Pierburg-branded factory diverter: generally 2006–2013 VW Golf/GTI/R, Jetta/GLI, Passat, CC, Tiguan, Eos; Audi A3/S3 (8P), A4/A5 (B8), TT (8J), Q5 with the 1.8/2.0 TSI/TFSI. Later cars with a Continental valve (most 2014+ MQB) use a different GFB VTA; look at the brand name on your valve before ordering. Not a CARB-exempt part.

Installation

Remove the engine cover, unbolt the factory diverter (three bolts), swap the connector and bolt the VTA on. 20–30 minutes. Expect a possible brief rich condition on lift-off on MAF-equipped cars; GFB's DV+ is the recirculating choice if you want stock behavior.
