Description

What it is

A pair of tall chrome valve covers for the classic small block with the GM-licensed Bowtie emblem recessed into the top. "Tall" means 3-1/2 inches, enough to clear roller rockers and stud girdles that bind on stock-height covers. The steel is thicker than the usual chrome covers, which is what stops the flange from warping and weeping when the bolts are snugged.

Fits

Gen I Small Block Chevrolet, 1958–1986: 262, 265, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350 and 400 with the perimeter-bolt pattern. Does not fit the 1987-and-later center-bolt Vortec/TBI heads or any LS engine.

What's in the box

Two covers with baffles, two breather/PCV grommets. Gaskets and bolts not included.

Installation

Fit with a good cork or rubber gasket (Fel-Pro 1604 or similar), torque evenly to 5–7 ft-lb; check rocker clearance before final tightening if you run tall rockers. Twenty minutes per side.
