What it is

King's top-grade rod bearing for the HR-series VQ and the VR30 twin-turbo, with a hardened pMaxBlack overlay and a thin ceramic-polymer coating that resists seizure during oil starvation and embeds debris. The coating adds no thickness, so clearances are set exactly as with a plain bearing. It is the bearing people choose for boosted and high-rpm builds where the stock bearing is the known weak point.

Fits

VQ35HR, VQ37VHR and VR30DDTT engines: 2007–2008 350Z, 2009–2020 370Z, Infiniti G35/G37/Q40/Q50/Q60/Q70, EX/FX/QX crossovers with these engines. Standard size; measure the crank. Not for the earlier VQ35DE (different journal), which uses King CR6829.

Installation

Builder's job: plastigauge each rod to spec (King publishes clearance targets for coated bearings), assembly lube, new rod bolts, torque-to-angle per Nissan. Keep the coating away from solvents that attack polymers.
